Quite frankly, I could have stayed there in the sunshine people-watching and bearing witness as the sand painting took shape. But I had not dragged my bicycle all the way from the Bronx on the subway just to sit in the park all day! After I made this photo my riding companions and I saddled up and hit the streets. Come back tomorrow to begin enjoying the sights with us.

Colin Huggins brings his piano outside in order to bring beautiful music and joy to people. He was in Washington Square Park this day, and I enjoyed hearing a few pieces before our bike ride began.

Artists Deborah Mangrum-Price and Joe Mangrum create a sand painting. They had a lovely day to work, too: little to no wind, mild temperatures, and lots of sunshine.

Believe me when I tell you this has been a full weekend. It has been full of fun and friends, which is the best kind of weekend (second only to weekends where I cocoon and recover from a busy week). Here is a shot from the time I spent with a friend photographing Maple Grove Cemetery. It was a beautiful day to be out and about, and I’m sure you can see.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend. I’m out enjoying it, too. See you tomorrow!

I am going back and forth about whether I like the tone curve for this photo. Straight out the camera the tone lacks depth; it is well exposed, but the brightness make the photo appear flat. Changing the tone curve so the highlights are far less pronounced adds depth, but I don’t know if I like the overall darkening of the photo as a result.
